Each applicant is required to pay the applicable fee in full, following the prescribed application procedure. The UK visa application fee is determined by the fee in effect on the application date.
In 2024, the UK’s visa landscape is evolving, bringing changes to associated costs. Recent Changes to UK Visa Application Fees
On October 4, 2023, the majority of UK visa application costs increased. This applied to entry clearance applications from outside the UK and leave-to-remain applications from within the UK, impacting settlement and citizenship requests.
The application fee for most UK visas rose by 15%, including a 20% increase for family visas, indefinite leave to remain, and naturalization as a British citizen. Student visa fees increased by 35%.
Settlement visa fees from overseas using the Priority Visa Service decreased by 13%, from £573 to £500. However, applying for a non-settlement visa from overseas through the Priority Visa Service doubled from £250 to £500.
Notably, not all UK visa application fees increased. For example, the cost of applying for a private medical treatment visa for over 6 months remained at £200, and a 5-year Hong Kong BN(O) visa stayed at £250.
Employers applying for a sponsor license did not face fee increases. The Home Office fee for both worker sponsor license and temporary worker sponsor license applications remained at £536 for small sponsors and £1,476 for large sponsors. However, the cost of allocating a certificate of sponsorship increased by 19% to 20%.
UK Visa & Immigration Application Fees 2024
In addition to the UK visa application fee, the majority of visa applicants will need to pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS).
